To optimise a value stream, 'waste' or Non-Value-Add (NVA) activity must be reduced and, if possible, eliminated. Some NVA activity will be found in virtually any manufacturing process but it is often even more prevalent in support processes, e.g. Logistics, Change Control, Laboratory Testing, Product Development, etc.
In some cases, BSM helps organisations to set up and run company wide (often global) 'Lean' and 'Operational Excellence' programmes to eliminate NVA activity. In others, we help them to tackle waste in very specific areas. The list below gives an indication of the diverse range of BSM's NVA elimination activities.
